Yes. For attractions that require timed entry, you can usually book your slot before first use, then activate the card later when you actually scan in. That helps you avoid wasting paid hours while waiting for a reservation day.

What if my QR code won't scan?

First, reopen the app and make sure the correct card is activated and visible. If it still fails, staff can usually help troubleshoot at the venue. Screenshots may not work at validators, so don't rely on them alone.

Is the audio guide included with every card?

No. Audio guides are only included on selected variants, so check the option name before you pay. The standard card covers entry, transport, and other inclusions, but it does not automatically include audio commentary.

Does the I Amsterdam City Card work on an hourly or calendar day basis?

It works on a consecutive-hours basis. A 24-hour card activated at 4pm on Monday stays valid until 4pm on Tuesday. That makes late activation possible, but mornings usually give you more usable sightseeing time.

Is Schiphol airport transport included?

No. The included transport is limited to GVB trams, buses, metros, and ferries within Amsterdam. Access to Schiphol trains, Airport Express buses, and other regional transport needs to be purchased separately.

Do I still need museum reservations?

Often, yes. Popular museums and some cruises still require advance time slots, and the card does not override those rules. It saves you from buying another ticket, but it does not guarantee walk-up entry or faster security lines.

Can I revisit the same attraction?

Each attraction or landmark can only be visited once with this card.
Once a card has been transferred to another person via the app, it cannot be transferred back.
The iAmsterdam City Card is digital and must be activated via the official app using your unique code.
Activate your card only when you are in Amsterdam and ready to use it; validity starts at first use and lasts for the selected duration (24, 48, 72, 96, or 120 hours).
Some attractions may require advance reservations. Check the app or the venue’s website for details and to book your slot.

Follow the instructions in your post-booking email to add your City Card to your account.
Once you’re in Amsterdam, activate the card using the app. Your validity period begins when your card is activated.
To gain entry to attractions and public transport, simply scan the pass on your smartphone. Your pass will automatically get activated when you use your pass to enter the first attraction on the list.
Some attractions require you to make reservations or book timeslots. You can book them in advance using the app, before activating your card.
You can transfer your I amsterdam pass to friends or family via the app. Please note that you can only transfer each card once.

Validity:
