All About the Locations

The largest museum in the Netherlands, the Rijksmuseum houses over 8000 artworks spanning 800 years of Dutch art and history. That includes a vast collection of art by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, and Van Gogh. Spread over 80 galleries, the Rijksmuseum is also home to Cuypers Library, the largest and oldest art history library containing more than 400,000 volumes. The Rijksmuseum also leads in art restoration and preservation of several pieces of art, with its largest ongoing restoration project being Operation Night Watch.

Magere Brug or 'Skinny Bridge', known for being narrow, is one of the most photographed bridges in Amsterdam. Legend has it that the bridge was built by two sisters who lived on each side of the Amstel River so they could visit each other easily. It is also believed that couples who kiss on the Magere Brug remain together forever. Visit the Magere Brug in the early morning or evening to catch the bridge gleam in the golden light or visit it at night as 1200 fairy lights illuminate it at night.

The NDSM Wharf is an old shipbuilding yard converted into a cultural metropolitan square that is home to creative entrepreneurs and artists. At the NDSM Wharf, you will find the world's largest Street Art Museum, with works of art that will leave you thinking, "I couldn't do that." The area is also known for its hip restaurants, cafes and bars, cultural events, concerts, movie screenings, sustainability projects, and more.
