Plan your visit to the Heineken Experience

The Heineken Experience is an immersive brewery tour set inside Heineken’s original 19th-century brewery in Amsterdam’s De Pijp district. It’s not a traditional museum, expect interactive exhibits, a 4D ride, and a lively finish at the tasting bar. Most visits take 1.5 to 2 hours; what catches visitors off-guard is that entry is strictly timed, and walk-ins are rarely possible. This guide covers everything you need, from getting there to choosing the right ticket to navigating the experience smoothly.

🎟️ Heads up

The Heineken Experience operates on timed entry only, and popular slots between 11am and 4pm often sell out 2 to 3 days in advance from April to October. Booking ahead is the only way to guarantee entry.

Heineken Experience at a glance

  • Hours: Sun–Thurs, 10:30am to 7:30pm; Fri & Sat, 10:30am to 9pm (last entry around 5:15pm on most days and 6:45pm on Fri & Sat)
  • Getting in: From €24.95 for standard entry. Rooftop access from €29.95. Advance booking is essential on weekends and between April and October.
  • How long to allow: 1.5 to 2 hours. Add 30 to 45 minutes if you include the rooftop terrace or spend time at the bar.
  • When to go: Early morning (10:30am to 11:30am) is noticeably calmer than midday when tour groups arrive.
  • What most people miss: The historic brew hall upstairs and the Shire horse stables outside, both of which are quieter and easy to skip.
  • Is a guide worth it? Not essential. The self-guided experience with multimedia and live English presentation is enough. A guided tour adds depth if you want more context on brewing and brand history.

🎟️ Tickets for the Heineken Experience sell out 2 to 3 days in advance from April to October. Lock in your slot before the date you want disappears.

Rules and restrictions

Good to know

⚠️ Re-entry is not permitted once you exit Heineken Experience. Plan restroom stops, meals, and rest breaks before leaving, as you cannot return inside and nearby options can require a 5 to 10-minute walk.

Practical tips

Booking and arrival

  • Book 2 to 3 days in advance between April and October, especially for slots between 11am and 4pm. Same-day tickets are often unavailable.
  • If you miss your time slot, entry is not guaranteed, and you may need to rebook. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to clear entry checks without stress. The experience flows continuously, so delays at the start affect your entire visit.

Pacing your visit

  • Prioritise the 4D ride early; queues can exceed 20 to 30 minutes by midday.
  • The tasting bar also gets crowded later in the day.

What to bring and leave behind

  • Bring a small bag only. Large bags slow entry due to mandatory storage.

Food and drink planning

  • Eat before or after your visit. The venue has limited food options, and you cannot re-enter once you leave.

Skip-the-line reality

  • The skip-the-line benefit here mainly means guaranteed entry at your time slot, not zero waiting. Expect a short queue even with pre-booked tickets.
